Tutorial Island Guide



After you create a new account on RuneScape, this is the location you'll find yourself at. You'll be at point #1 on the map. The following interface will be presented to you:



There are 3 areas of interest whilst choosing your outfit:

• Gender: At the bottom-right, you can switch between being male or female.
• Design: In this column to the left, you can decide what type of feature you'd like to have.
• Colour: At the right, you can choose the colour of your body and clothes.

Once you've configured your avatar, go ahead and talk to the RuneScape Guide by left-clicking him.



He'll briefly introduce you to the game, unlock your options menu, and instruct you to use the door to leave. It's quite easy, just left-click it.

You'll notice a big bar at the bottom of the game window, it will fill up as you complete more of the tutorial.

Walk over to the pond (click on the ground, or on the mini-map) (#2), and you'll find the Survival Expert.



She will give you a bronze axe and a tinderbox. Your inventory will be unlocked, open it up. Click a nearby tree to chop it down.

After obtaining logs, speak to the Expert again and you'll be asked to make a fire. "Use" the tinderbox with the logs to make a fire.



Your stats tab will be unlocked, this is where you can all of your levels and experience. On Tutorial Island, you can only advance a stat to level 3.

Talk to the Expert again and she'll give you a small fishing net. Click on the indicated fishing spot to catch some shrimp.

You will most likely burn it on the fire. Go back and catch another, then successfully cook it.

Continue down the path to the Master Chef's house (#3), and speak with the instructor.



He'll hand you a bucket of water and a pot of flour. Use one on the other to make bread dough, and then use the dough on the nearby range.



With a cooked loaf, talk to the Master Chef again. He'll unlock your music menu.

Head out the door, and go to the Quest Guide (#4). On the way, you'll be told about emotes, and the emote menu will be unlocked. Give one a try!



Also, you'll need to practise using run mode, which is in the options menu. Click the run button to toggle it on or off.



At the Quest Guide's house, you'll be informed of the many, many quests available to do in the game, and your quest tab will be unlocked.

After speaking with him, climb down the ladder into the caves below.



Go to the Mining Instructor (#5), and he'll tell you how to prospect a rock. By right-clicking them, prospect a grey rock and an orange rock.



Tell the Instructor what types of ore you've found, and he'll give you a bronze pickaxe. Mine a copper and tin ore.



After another conversation with the Instructor, you'll be given a hammer. Head to the smithing area (#6) and use one of the ores with the furnace. You'll make a bronze bar.

Now, use the bar with the nearby anvil.



Choose to make a dagger, and you're finished in this area! Go through the door indicated and talk to Vannaka, the Combat Instructor (#7).



He'll show you how to use the equipped inventory, give you a bronze sword and wooden shield, and how to choose your attack style. When you're ready, enter the rat cage and attack one of the rats.



When the rat is dead, leave the cage and talk to Vannaka again. He'll give you some ranging equipment, which you'll need to equip. Attack a rat from outside the cage.



Once you've killed another rat, you'll be free to proceed up the exit ladder and to the bank (#8). Use the bank booth and practise storing and withdrawing items.



Next, move into the adjacent room and talk to the Financial Advisor. He'll tell you about all the ways you can make money.



Head to the church (#9) and talk to Brother Brace, who will unlock your prayer tab, and tell you how to train your prayer level.



Brace will also tell you about your friends and ignore lists, and quickly remind you to behave around others ingame.

With this new knowledge in mind, advance to the final stage of the tutorial, which is the Magic Instructor.



He'll unlock your spellbook, give you 5 air & mind runes, and direct you to his chicken pen. Open the spellbook, select Wind Strike at the top-left, and click a chicken to fire the spell at it.

If the spell splashes, try again until you succeed.



The tutorial is complete! Speak to the Magic Instructor again, and you'll be allowed to leave the island.
