Tourist Trap

Description: Soar through hidden slave tunnels in the Kharidian Desert as you try to find a lost daughter.

About 4 Bronze Bars, About 20 Feathers, Desert Robes (Top, Bottom, Boots), Waterskins, Hammer, Knife, Shantay Passes, About 300 GP.
Reward: 2 Quest Points, Wrought Iron Key (which allows you to access deeper mines), ability to smith throwing darts, 4,650 experience in two of the following skills: Agility, Fletching, Smithing, and Thieving.
Quest Guide

1. Head over to the Shantay Pass, found south of Al Kharid. You can buy all the required items from Shantay. Once there, talk to Irena on the other side of the pass and say you will help her find her daughter, Ana.

2. Now go to the Mining Camp, just south of the Pass. Outside the main gate on the western side of the camp, there is a group of Mercenaries and a Mercenary Captain. "Watch" the Mercenary Captain and you will see that he has a large metal key on his belt.

3. Talk to another Guard until he mentions that he doesn't like the captain too much, and doesn't fight his own battles. Speak to the Captain and ask if there's anything you can do for him. He will ask you to kill a bandit leader. When you refuse, ask him why he can't fight his own battles. At that point, he will attack you.
4. Once you kill the Captain, you will get a large metal key. Now can you enter the Desert Mining Camp. But before you do so, remove all your armor, weapons, and your shield. In the eastern corner of the camp, there is a Male Slave who just seems to be standing around.
5. Tell him you're new and you will help him with his plan to escape. Then, trade your Desert Robes for his Slave Robes.
6. Put on the Slave Robes and enter the passage to the northeast. Follow it until you reach the two guards at the end. Talk to one of them and ask if you can mine in a different area. He says you can, only if you provide him with a Tenti Pineapple.
7. Leave the Camp and head West into the Bedabin Camp. Talk to Al Shabim...

...and tell him that you are looking for a pineapple. He will give you one if you tell him about the "secret weapon." He'll also give you a key to the chest containing the plans.
8. Head back into the Mining Camp and into the house. Go up the ladder and search each of the bookcases until you find a book about sailing.

9. Try to open the chest and you will be stopped by a man named Captain Siad. Tell him that you want to have a chat, mention that he has lots of books, and then ask him if he's interested in sailing. Tell him that you could teach him something and he will be distracted enough for you to steal the plans from the chest.
10. Go back to Al Shabim in the Bedabim Camp and give him the plans. He'll ask if you can make the weapon for him. Go into the tent to the north and use one of your Bronze Bars on the Anvil. Follow the directions to make a prototype, which you will then give to Al Shabim. He will give you 6 Bronze Darts, and a Tenti Pineapple.

11. Head all the way back into the mine passage to the northeast and give the guard his pineapple. Go into the next room.
12. Walk east towards the barrels and search them to find the empty one. Pick it up, and it will be in your inventory.
13. Search the Mine Cart and ride it into the next mine room. Ana is in this next room, to the northwest.
14. Talk to Ana about escaping, and tell her that you could sneak her out using a barrel. At first she will refuse, but use the barrel on her anyway.


15. Go back to the mine cart and use "Ana in a barrel" on it. After she goes to the next room, it's your turn to get on the mine cart. Search the barrels again to find Ana, then use "Ana in a barrel" on the Winch, which is close by. Let the Mercenary help you and when he hears Ana complaining, just say he was very "gregarious."
16. Go back into the camp and use the winch.

Then search the barrels to the northwest. You will find Ana (again). Place her on the cart and talk to the Cart Driver. Continue to tell him jokes until you get the opportunity to say "Well, it's like this..." - then tell him that you want to be smuggled out. Offer him 10 coins, but he will ask for 100.
17. Once smuggled outside, go back to Irena. Congratulations! Quest complete.
