Introduction

Prayer is one of the seven skills that contribute to your combat level. It is used to provide bonuses when fighing or recovering from fighting. These bonuses can temperarily increase stats, reduce the chance of being hit, and even prevent items being lost upon death.

To view which prayers are available, click on the symbol on the in-game interface.

Bone Types

There are several ways of getting prayer experience. The most simple is burying bones that can be obtained from killing the various monsters from around RuneScape.

Prayer Enhancements

Certain objects can effect the speed at which your prayer goes down when you use it. These range from robes to amulets, and often have other abilities.

On the equiped items interface there is a small option at the bottom showing your prayer bonuses.

The higher this number is, the longer it will take for your prayer to run out.

This shows the different pieces of armour, weapons and objects that give a prayer bonus.

The Monastery

If you have 31 prayer, you can enter the monastery west of edgeville, which is the closest thing there is to a prayer guild.

Inside there is an altar which you can pray at and also a small table that some monks robes respawn on. On the floor in the same room as the robes is a scorpion that you need to catch in the Scorpion Catcher quest. Also , if you talk to Brother Jered, he will bless any unblessed holy symbols you have.

The Ectofuntus

By worshiping the Ectofuntus you can get 4 times as much experience as burying the bones. For details on how to use the Ectofuntus, read the Ectofuntus Guide.

Pyre ships

If you have done the Barbarian Training then you will have learnt how to make pyre ships. When you make a pyre ship, the next few bones you bury will give 3 times as much experience. Which type of logs you make the pyre ship out of will effect the amount of bones you can bury with 3 time the experience.
